In Hyderabad, India, Rhea Ripley will put her WWE Women’s World Championship on the line against Guinness Book of World Records holder Natalya tomorrow night at WWE Superstar Spectacle. It is her latest high-profile defense since capturing the title on night one of WWE WrestleMania 39, where she defeated former Champion Charlotte Flair. One name that she has not put her title on the line against during her reign is “The Man” Becky Lynch.
The women have only faced off once before in a WWE ring, and that was all the way back in 2019 in NXT. Their match did not end with a definitive winner, as Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke interrupted the bout and attacked both women. In an interview with India Today, Ripley was asked how she would feel about facing off against Lynch for the title.
“I expect a huge challenge from The Man, Becky,” she began. “She has definitely made a name for herself in this company. She’s accomplished so much. She’s going down in history as one of the best. And she will 110 percent be in the Hall of Fame one day. She really has made her own legacy.
“But like Becky, like Charlotte, like Sasha, like Bayley, like the Four Horsewomen, they’ve all made a name for themselves. But at the end of the day, when you step in the ring with Mami, it’s a whole different sort of challenge, and if it were to be myself and Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 40, you know, I, I invite that challenge.”
Ripley closed out her comments, making it clear that if Mami were to take on The Man, she would be the one on top, making the pinfall. Interestingly, Lynch and Ripley could share space this Tuesday night on NXT, as Lynch is scheduled to take on Tiffany Stratton for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship, and Mami may be seen alongside the WWE NXT North American Champion, her “Dom Dom” Dominik Mysterio.
It is worth noting that Lynch and Ripley will not share space tomorrow night at WWE Superstar Spectacle. Last night, Lynch broke the news that due to a slightly torn passport, she will not be able to travel to India. Haus of Wrestling has confirmed her story is legitimate, and she will not be making a surprise appearance on the show.
