This past Tuesday night’s episode of WWE NXT went off the air, implying that Bron Breakker had smashed Von Wagner’s head like a grape with steel steps. It was the exclamation point on a fast-paced episode that also featured a WWE NXT North American Championship number one contender match between Mustafa Ali and Dragon Lee, with The Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio serving as the special referee. In the end, Ali came out on top and will face Mysterio later this month at WWE NXT No Mercy.
Wrestlenomics reports that this week’s episode of WWE NXT drew an average overall audience of 673,000 viewers, with about 229,000 of those in the coveted P18 – 49 demographic. It was up 10% in overall viewership from the week before and up 8% in the P18 – 49 demo.
The episode started off with an average overall audience of 668,000 viewers and stayed relatively flat until the fifth quarter hour, when it leaped to 723,000 viewers, with 254,000 of those in the P18 – 49 demo. The highest overall and key demo viewership for the entire episode. That quarter-hour featured the number one contender match between Ali and Lee, with Mysterio as the guest referee, along with a backstage angle between Ilja Dragunov and Trick Williams. In recent weeks, Mysterio’s segments have regularly drawn the most viewers.
It is worth noting that while overall viewership for the episode declined for each quarter of the first hour, those quarters all saw an increase in P18 – 49 viewership.
The show saw slight overall and key demo dips in each subsequent quarter-hour before a slight uptick for the main event overrun. The episode ended with an average overall audience of 647,000 viewers, slightly down from the overall viewership from the top of the show. However, it also ended with 226,000 viewers in the P18 – 49 demo, slightly up from the 224,000 P18 – 49 demo viewers the show started with.
Next week’s episode of WWE NXT will see “The Man” Becky Lynch return to the yellow and black brand. Lynch laid down a challenge to WWE NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton on this week’s episode, and the two women will battle for the title in the main event this Tuesday night.
