UPDATE: Brandon Thurston pressed Khan about whether fans will know about Punk’s AEW All Out status before Sunday. He said he hopes that is the case and noted this is a very difficult situation.
This past weekend, AEW: All In London took place from Wembley Stadium in London in front of more than 80,000 pro wrestling fans. It was a momentous occasion that was somewhat dampened by news that an altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry played out backstage just before the pay-per-view went live on the air. Tony Khan confirmed the altercation took place during the media scrums after the event was over and shortly after suspensions were handed down to Punk and Perry.
Questions have swirled all week about Punk’s status for the big Chicago show, and just now, on the All Out media call, Jim Varsallone asked Khan if fans can expect to see The Second City Saint this Sunday. The AEW President paused before reiterating that an internal investigation is still ongoing and they are waiting to draw final conclusions. He went on to say that he always tries to be honest with the fans and will give more information about Punk’s status soon.
Haus of Wrestling remains on the call and will continue to provide highlights on our site and X account.
