Adam Cole and MJF shocked the tens of thousands in attendance at Wembley Stadium this past weekend when they dethroned Aussie Open’s Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher to win the Ring Of Honor World Tag Team Championship during the All In Buy-In. The two went on to headline the main show and, despite various teases and interference from Roderick Strong, managed to walk away from the bout with their friendship intact.
In a segment filmed directly after the All In main event that aired on last night’s Dynamite, MJF discussed how his future title challengers for both his AEW World Championship and newly won tag titles with Cole would be decided. Friedman will next defend his singles title at Dynamite: Grand Slam and a tournament will be held in the coming days and weeks to determine his challenger at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Meanwhile, a Tag Team Battle Royale will be held on this week’s Rampage and the winning team will go on to challenge himself and Cole for the ROH tag titles. However, the taping for Rampage was held directly after Dynamite and as a result, the duo’s challengers have already been determined. Spoilers below for the September 1st 2023 edition of AEW Rampage, read on at your own risk!
In Rampage’s opening bout, the tag team battle royale took place featuring 10 teams: Aussie Open, Best Friends, The Hardys, The Gates of Agony, The Outrunners, The Dark Order, The Wingmen, The Righteous, The Butcher & The Blade and Action Andretti & Darius Martin. Surprisingly, Dark Order’s John Silver and Alex Reynolds came out on top and will be the ones to challenge MJF and Cole at All Out this weekend.
Elsewhere on the Rampage tapings: Chris Jericho got into a fight with Aussie Open at the announcers’ desk and Sammy Guevara came out to even the odds; El Hijo del Vikingo teamed with Nick Wayne to defeat Kip Sabian and Gringo Loco; Hangman Page defeated Bryan Keith in the latter’s AEW debut; and the team of Willow Nightingale and Skye Blue defeated Taya Valkyrie and Anna Jay in the show’s main event.
