During her time with Ultimate Fighting Championship, Ronda Rousey was the first female UFC Champion ever, successfully defending the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship in six consecutive fights. Rousey’s cage fighting career culminated with her UFC Hall of Fame induction in 2018, where she became the first woman to be inducted. Recently, a rumor circulated again that Ronda Rousey could be headed back to UFC for another fight at their historic UFC 300 show.
Yesterday, during a press scrum for the Dana White Contender Series, TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter reported that the UFC President had the following to say in regard to that rumor.
“Ronda’s having kids!” he exclaimed. “Ronda built this whole thing that’s going on with the women here, then her dream was to go to the WWE, she went there and did everything that she did there and achieved, she’s made sh*tloads of money. She’s moved on with her life.”
Rousey’s last WWE match and appearance took place at WWE SummerSlam earlier this month at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. At the show, she unsuccessfully took on her long-time friend and more recent rival, Shayna Baszler, in an MMA rules match. While the fans in attendance may not have given the bout the love some expected, it will be remembered in the history books as Rousey’s final WWE match if she does not return to the company, which has been rumored. However, with WWE and UFC set to merge next month, it is difficult to imagine a world where she does not make appearances for both, in some capacity, as she seems like a natural ambassador for the newly publicly traded entity.
Rousey currently has one child with her husband and fellow former UFC fighter Travis Browne. At the moment, there has not been a formal announcement about Rousey being pregnant with her second child, so it’s not clear if White meant she was working on having another child or let it slip that she is once again expecting.
