Tonight’s AEW Dynamite has not been short on action or big news. The evening started off with the implosion of the Jericho Appreciation Society, as each member of the group let Jericho know how he had let them down and why they would be exiting the faction. Later, after The Young Bucks defeated The Hardyz in their latest tag team encounter, they called out FTR so that they could officially accept their challenge for a match at AEW All In. Just now, Darby Allin confronted former friend Swerve Strickland and his Mogul Embassy, leading to his current friend and mentor, Sting, arriving under a cloak of darkness to help dispense of the faction.
The beatdown came on the heels of comments between Allin, Strickland, and AR Fox about Nick Wayne, AEW’s youngest signing ever. Fox and Strickland take issue with how Allin has helped Wayne along the way and resent him for not doing the same for them. Since their words boiled over into actions, Tony Khan has decided to let them fight on the biggest stage he can, AEW All In.
It was just announced on Dynamite that Allin and Sting will team to take on Strickland and Fox in a tag team coffin match at Wembley Stadium. This appears to be the first tag team coffin, or casket, match to ever take place in a major promotion. While The Undertaker popularized the gimmick bout in WWE, he never wrestled one alongside any of his various partners, like Kane.
AEW All In will be headlined by MJF defending his AEW World Championship against Adam Cole. Samoa Joe has also called out a CM Punk for a match that would see The Second City Saint’s “Real” World Championship put on the line. It was also announced tonight on Dynamite that a tournament will be held over the coming weeks to decide the participants for a fatal four-way match at All In for the AEW Women’s Championship.
