Last month, Damage CTRL had one of its members go down with their second ACL, Dakota Kai. With Kai unable to compete, the unit is now operating with just Bayley and IYO SKY, who will be at odds tomorrow night when they square off in the women’s Money In The Bank match. In an exclusive Haus of Wrestling interview, recorded earlier today at the WWE Money In The Bank media junket, I asked Bayley about fan speculation that she and IYO could turn on one another in the bout.
“I’m not worried,” she said. “I had an eight-hour Zoom call with Dakota and IYO earlier this week, and we came up with the perfect strategy. You guys don’t have to worry. I’m not going against IYO; IYO’s not going against me. We’re in this together because we are Damage CTRL. Alright?”
The way that Bayley phrased her response led me to believe it was possible that Kai could somehow get involved in tomorrow night’s women’s Money In The Bank match. Granted, a torn ACL would likely keep her from jumping off ladders, but she could always hide under the ring and grab someone’s feet should the occasion arise.
“No, no, she’s just she’s recovering,” she made clear. “She’s doing everything she needs to do to get better so she can come back with us. We’re dedicating this match to her, but she was there to, you know, meditate. She was there to help us with an outside eye.”
While discussing Dakota Kai’s injury, I pressed Bayley on how her fellow Damage CTRL stablemate’s recovery has been going and when fans can expect to see her back in action.
“She’s a monster. She’s a beast,” she stated. “She’s already off her crutches. She’s already driving. She’s already squatting 315 pounds on a barbell. Do you believe that? She’s a monster. She’s a beast. She’s coming back. Honestly, I don’t really know the timeline, but probably faster than I did.”
