The pro wrestling world has seen some big moves this year. On the WWE side of things, the majority ownership of the company will be sold off to Endeavor by the end of the year, and along with that, Vince McMahon has returned to the fold. Over in All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan is spending his days in boardrooms making plans for his company’s second major television property, Collision. In an exclusive Haus of Wrestling interview, TBS Champion Kris Statlander commented on rumors that along with the new show, the roster will be split into two, resulting in distinct brands.
“Yeah, I think it’s kind of a split, but not fully,” she said. “I think, hopefully, you will be able to see some talent be on both shows but I do think that it’s a good opportunity to get more people television time. It’s also exciting knowing that you’re only going to see some people on some days, that’s great, but also seeing someone show up on a Saturday, and then you’re like, ‘Oh my god, I can’t believe they’re here. I wonder who they’re going to work with,’ and stuff.
“I like the mystery and the surprise, and I feel like everyone wants to know everything, all the time, in wrestling, and it makes me sad because don’t you just want to enjoy the moment, and feel that surprise? I feel like everyone takes that for granted nowadays. Everyone wants to know everything so fast or be the first to know but I think the beauty of wrestling is not knowing what’s going to happen.”
Along with rumors of a roster split has come a report that the AEW women’s division will not be affected by the new directive because the division is so thin that it does not need to be divided in half. Statlander addressed whether or not the company has enough quality female talent to fill out two separate female divisions.
“I think so,” she stated. “I think people don’t realize how many women there actually are because we are a very small fraction of the show most of the time. I don’t think it’s going to be much of an issue, especially with the opportunity to possibly get to go to both shows. I think we’ll be able to provide what people are hoping for. I think we’ll be able to step up and make it worth it.”
