Last night’s episode of WWE NXT saw Baron Corbin return to the program, ragging on the roster and continuing his program with current NXT Champion, Carmelo Hayes. Not content with the new champ and main roster star monopolizing the main event picture, former NXT Champion, Bron Breakker, took out his frustrations by beating down Ilja Dragunov backstage in vicious fashion but it was his show-closing promo that grabbed headlines.
“Why did I attack Ilja Dragunov?” a frustrated Breakker asked a WWE NXT camera person outside the Performance Center. “Because I’m not gonna let Ilja spit out some garbage about how he’s the most intense guy in WWE. Are you kidding? I’m going to start holding everyone accountable all the way from the top to the bottom, alright?
“And speaking of all the way at the top, how about our WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freaking’ Rollins. ‘Monday Night Rollins,’ the workhorse of WWE. You know what? How about you prove it? Because you’re pretty familiar with how we do things here because you were the first-ever NXT champion and I was the most dominant NXT champion. So, why don’t you come here and put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line against me?”
The challenge caught nearly everyone off guard and certainly created some buzz around WWE’s black and gold brand. It’s totally possible we see Rollins on NXT TV in the coming weeks, or maybe as early as next week, but it will have to be on the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s time. Rollins is already involved in a feud with The Judgment Day that looks to be leading to a show-down against Finn Balor at Money In The Bank. So, it’s good that Breakker issued his challenge now because it looks like Rollins’ dancing card is filling up fast.
