The rumor mill is working overtime as a new report is saying that WWE could be sold to Endeavor in a blockbuster move that would see the pro wrestling powerhouse merge with UFC. One man who has already decided to publicly weigh in on the possible merger is former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, Conor McGregor.
“Congrats to the @ufc now worth a cool Proper $12bn,” McGregor wrote. “Wow! Endeavor bout to scoop the @WWE now also. Incredible. What a powerhouse!”
The merger would see Vince McMahon take on the executive chairman role of WWE and serve directly underneath Ari Emmanual, who would be the executive chairman of the new company containing WWE and UFC. Fightful is reporting that the subject is definitely being hotly discussed backstage at WrestleMania 39 tonight, with many not sure how this could affect the future of the company or their position. With that said, many seem to be happy that to company was not sold to Saudi Arabia.
McGregor’s potential involvement in WWE has long been discussed as the two sides seem perfect for one another. The brash, ginger-haired star is known for his bravado and confident speaking abilities that, when coupled with his athletic prowess, seem like a natural pairing to the colorful world of pro wrestling. Logan Paul has many of the same characteristics and has found nothing but success in WWE, despite his loss last night to Seth “Freaking” Rollins.
If McGregor does make the leap to WWE, he will not be the first former UFC Champion to do so. Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey have also made waves in the promotion and will be featured on night two of WrestleMania 39 in just a few hours. Could we see McGregor at WWE WrestleMania 40 next year in Philadelphia? Time will tell but that idea doesn’t seem as EXTREME as the city hosting the show.
