As rumors swirl that UFC and WWE could collide in the boardroom soon, Brock Lesnar and Omos brought that energy to the squared circle to kick off night two of WrestleMania 39. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was pushed to his limits by WWE’s latest giant but ultimately was able to pull out the victory after a handful of suplexes and a gigantic F5.
While not the most anticipated match on the card, it had begun to gain some fan support in the weeks leading up to the show after a few imposing stare-downs. Once the action hit the ring, it is hard to say the audience in attendance wasn’t having fun. They were hot for the all-of-five-minute match that was going on and even gave Lesnar some support as he struggled to get out of a massive bear hug.
There have been rumors that Vince McMahon, who is now officially back in the WWE fold, was the man to push for this match to take place. Recently, Lesnar spoke with fellow former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Cormier, about why he accepted the match. The Beast made it clear that he loves a good “David vs. Goliath” story and that’s why he was all about taking part in the match.
It’s interesting to note that Conor McGregor is on social media as I type making waves about a possible move to WWE if the merger with UFC does happen. Lesnar’s former advocate, Paul Heyman, has since responded to McGregor calling him a “wannabe” Roman Reigns but with The Tribal Chief possibly taking time away from WWE following WrestleMania 39, a reunion between Lesnar and Heyman could be something WWE considers. If Lesnar likes a good “David vs. Goliath” storyline then he may very well be open to that conversation.
