The official cards for nights one and two of WWE WrestleMania 39 have been released! Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes will clash for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to close night two, but the main event for night one has been less clear.
Fightful reported late last week that the plan was to have Charlotte Flair defend her WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley. However, they have since put out an update saying those involved in the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match have been told they could be closing out the night.
According to the latest report, there are those in WWE who thought the women should main event night one because a women’s match did not main event either night of WrestleMania 38. That said, “virtually everyone” that Fightful has spoken with feels the tag match would and should close the first night with the reasoning being the WWE tag titles have never main-evented a WrestleMania night, nor has a wrestler of Syrian descent.
The final decision on what will main event night one will apparently be finalized Saturday morning at the WWE WrestleMania 39 production meeting. To further add a bit of confusion, what’s believed to be the opening match, United States Champion Austin Theory vs John Cena, is prominently featured as what looks to be the main event on an official night one card release graphic.
